I am shocked that Jonathan said I betrayed him

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muazu, has declared that he is shocked and finds it difficult to believe that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan could accuse him of conspiracy in the 2015 election.

Muazu, popularly called ‘game changer’, was reacting to allegations by Jonathan contained in a soon to be released book, ‘Against the Run of Play’, written by Segun Adeniyi, chairman of THISDAY editorial board, where Jonathan alleged that Muazu worked against him in the election.

“I felt really betrayed by the result from some northern states. Perhaps for ethnic purposes, even security agents colluded with the opposition to come up with spurious results against me,” Jonathan was quoted as saying.

“What happened was very sad not for me as a person, but for our democracy. Take, for instance, the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, I believe he joined in the conspiracy against me. For reasons best known to him, he helped to sabotage the election in favour of the opposition.”

Reacting to the allegation in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, Muazu, a former Governor of Bauchi State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007, expressed surprise that the former president could speak about him in such manner.

“Ordinarily, I would have ignored the allegation that I betrayed President Jonathan and my party, but doing so could create the impression that I really did,” he posted.

“I find it difficult to believe that President Jonathan would level such allegation against me. How can one betray himself?

“As the then National Chairman of the PDP, I have been at the forefront of the presidential campaign train. Those who are insinuating that I betrayed President Jonathan and my party are being economical with the truth.

“In the face of abuse, insult and open ridicule by our friends and brothers we supported President Jonathan faithfully.

“In all sincerity, I gave my best and all to my party. Those who blame us for not delivering maximum votes to the former president in the north seem to have forgotten that it is the people who vote.‎”

I’m different from young artistes – Majek Fashek

Since his return to the Nigerian music scene, veteran reggae maestro, Majek Fashek, has been on a conscious mission to once again stamp his feet on the music space, reclaiming his throne as the only musician in the world who can draw rain with his music fic. In a recent interview with HIPTV, the rain maker, as he is fondly called, claimed there is a cut clear difference between the quality of sound and music he makes and that of young artistes. According to Majek, “I make sound while all these young musicians make jam, I make good sound but they are always jamming, they don’t make good sound, they just jam. My song ‘Send down the rain’ was made over thirty years ago, but if you listen to it today, you will realize that the sound will appeal to both the old and equally the young ones because the sound is good and still relevant today, that is something the young musicians don’t have.” In a one-on-one chat with  E-Daily , Majek explained that his statement in the i...
